Learn how to understand trauma responses

70% of adults have experienced trauma. Most coaches were never taught how to identify or respond to a trauma response. Missing it comes at a cost — unnecessary anxiety and, at worst, additional suffering for the client.

Trauma-Informed Coaching teaches you to recognize it, stay within scope, and respond with steadiness when it shows up in a session.

What You'll Learn:

  • The ontology of trauma — how it forms, and the difference between adaptation and emergence.
  • How to differentiate the various ways traumatic experience shows up.
  • A comprehensive look at the three branches of the autonomic nervous system and their relationship to trauma responses and regulation.
  • Attunement and mirror neurons — how your presence can mirror safety back to a client.
  • The difference between working with the past and living history.
  • A trauma-informed coaching toolkit — embodied presence, deep listening, pendulation/titration, and more.
  • How to recognize your scope of practice, and how to respond within it.

Meet Your Facilitator

Alexander Love, MCC, NCC, M.Ac. is an acupuncturist, developmental coach, and facilitator. With gentleness, lightness, and depth, he invites us to listen to the voice of our inner wisdom and potency and allow that to move us outward into the world and make a difference.

At the core of Alexander’s work is his belief that the quality and health of our future depend upon our willingness to come together and deepen our capacity to live from wholeness. If we can find the courage to embrace our painful experiences as individuals, life can become something that perpetually transforms us. As we transform, so does the world, and together we can co-create a beautiful future.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this course ICF approved for CCE's?

CCEs are pending. This course has been submitted to the ICF for 8 Continuing Coach Education (CCE) credits.

How long do I have access to the course (and what if I need to miss a day)?

This course is a live three-session Zoom course. It will be recorded, and the recordings will be uploaded to our platform, which you will have access to forever. This way, you can return to the presentation and practices whenever you like. Also, you won't miss the content if you miss a day or portion of the live event.

I took the CPPM course in the last two years and had three hours of trauma-informed coaching. Is this the same?

Yes and no. This course is 6 hours of live training, plus 2 hours of practice and integration work — 8 hours total. In CPPM the introduction to trauma informed coaching was three hours. this course covers what you learned in CPPM, with more time for practice, integrating the material, Q&A, and a few additional distinctions.

Will I learn how to treat trauma as a coach?

No. Coaches don't use a medical model, so we don't "treat" or "heal" trauma for clients. What you'll learn is how to understand trauma responses in your clients and respond within scope. Coaches who aren't trauma-informed often make well-intentioned errors that create more stress and anxiety for their clients.

Is this different from the From Freaking Out to High Functioning course?

Yes. Both courses offer a comprehensive introduction to the autonomic nervous system. From Freaking Out to High Functioning focuses more on the ANS and its relationship to coaching broadly, while this course is specifically tailored to becoming trauma-informed.

What if I am unhappy with the course?

If for any reason you are unsatisfied with the course, let us know within seven days of the start of the course, and we will give you a full refund.
